There were 352 traffic accidents in Russia over the weekend

Over the past weekend, 352 traffic accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 42 people were killed and 491 injured. 33 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to "Izvestia" on Monday, February 10, in the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
Thus, in the Voronezh region in the morning on the local highway "Alexandrovka - Nikolskoye" the driver of a passenger car drove to the railroad crossing at the prohibited traffic signal and collided with the locomotive of a freight train. Both the driver and his passenger died in the accident.
Analysis of accidents at railroad crossings shows that such accidents most often occur at unregulated crossings, where drivers, not convinced of the safety of the maneuver, trying to pass in front of a nearby train, indicated in the State Traffic Police. Trying to win a few seconds of the way, they endanger not only their own lives, but also the lives and health of their own passengers, railroad personnel, passengers of trains and trains.
The traffic police reminded motorists of the importance of compliance with the rules of passing railway crossings, as this maneuver is considered dangerous and requires the driver's focus and maximum attention. Thus, in the traffic rules there is a direct prohibition to exit to the railroad crossing outside the crossing. The maneuver is impossible when the barrier is closed or closing, or at a prohibitive signal of traffic lights or crossing duty officer.
Stopping or parking a vehicle at a railroad crossing is also strictly prohibited, as it creates a real threat of collision with a train. If this happens in emergency conditions, for example, when a car breaks down, the driver must immediately drop people off, remove them to a safe distance and take measures to clear the crossing - tow or push the car off the rails. In addition, the driver moving through the railway crossing should be extremely careful in the dark, as well as in unfavorable weather conditions and limited visibility, the agency said.
As a result of 92 accidents, 33 of which occurred at crosswalks and 59 outside their zone of action, nine pedestrians were killed, another 89 were injured of varying severity. Among the injured pedestrians were 16 children under the age of 16, five of whom were injured while crossing the roadway in designated areas.
There were 21 accidents involving buses on Russian roads, in which one person was killed and 44 other road users (including six children) were injured. The cause of 12 accidents involving buses were violations of traffic rules committed by drivers of other vehicles.
Thus, in Moscow in the evening time the driver of a passenger car entered a regulated intersection at a prohibited traffic light signal, where he collided with a city shuttle bus carrying 15 passengers, after which the bus collided with two cars standing at the traffic light and a city lighting mast. As a result of the accident, five passengers on the bus required medical attention, after which they were referred to outpatient treatment.
Another nine bus accidents were caused by violations committed by the bus drivers themselves. In Kabardino-Balkaria in the morning at 30 km of the federal highway "Bypass of Pyatigorsk from the highway R-217" the driver of an interregional bus with 14 passengers in the cabin crashed into a truck, which had previously stopped after another accident. After the collision, the truck moved forward and collided with another truck in front of it, and the bus struck a passenger car that was on its way. The driver and passenger of the bus and a passenger in the passenger car were injured in the accident and hospitalized. Two more passengers of the bus received bodily injuries and after medical care were sent for outpatient treatment.
With the participation of minors over the weekend 56 accidents were registered, as a result of which 66 young road users were injured, including 46 passengers. One teenage passenger died. Thus, in Krasnoyarsk region on a regional highway in the afternoon, a woman driver of a passenger car in snowfall conditions collided with a combined road truck moving ahead of her in the opposite direction, carrying out work on cleaning the roadway from snow. The driver's son, a 15-year-old schoolboy, who was in the front passenger seat without a seat belt, was killed in the accident. The female driver herself was hospitalized with injuries.
"The traffic police reminds drivers that the life and health of their young passengers depend entirely on the skills, driving experience, well-being and law-abiding behavior on the road of the person behind the wheel. Do not make dangerous maneuvers, refuse risky manner of driving, do not exceed the permitted speed limit, especially in conditions of limited visibility and winter weather, keep the distance and lateral interval between vehicles: leave yourself time to react adequately to the possible at any moment change in the traffic situation. Be careful and cautious on the road. We also draw the attention of drivers to strict compliance with the rules of transportation of children. Take care of your young passengers, not allowing even the preconditions for a possible tragedy," - said "Izvestia" deputy head of the department of road safety propaganda and prevention of child traffic injuries of the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, police colonel Anton Belan.
