This year the government will allocate additional funding to support businesses in Kursk, Belgorod and Bryansk regions. This was announced by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin during an operational meeting with deputy prime ministers on February 10.

"Last year we allocated over a billion rubles to pay for temporary idle time of workers for reasons beyond their and employers' control. This year we will allocate about another Br800 million for these purposes," he said.

Also, Prime Minister said that it had been decided to release the necessary working capital for enterprises. According to him, this will allow to preserve labor collectives and skilled workers, so that they could return to their jobs as soon as possible.

In addition, Mishustin recalled that these regions have a number of support measures, including a one-year deferral of taxes and insurance premiums for citizens and organizations, extended budget financing of medical institutions, grants for the restoration or relocation of production, supply of vehicles for mobile trade, benefits for equipment leasing and free economic zones with special conditions for entrepreneurial activity.

Prior to that, on January 5, the Russian Prime Minister signed a decree to extend the free economic zone (FEZ) regime to a number of territories in Belgorod Region. These are the territories in Belgorod and Shebekino districts of the region.

FEZ is a territory with a special legal status in relation to the rest of the state territory. Usually such a status is expressed in favorable tax or customs conditions for business.

Earlier, on October 8, 2024, Mishustin signed a decree on the operation of FEZs in certain territories of Belgorod, Bryansk and Kursk regions. Then it was noted that this step will allow entrepreneurs to reduce costs, increase production, create jobs and provide residents of border regions with necessary goods and services.

The resolution was prepared to implement the law, which Russian President Vladimir Putin signed on June 22, 2024.
