Technoexpert gave advice on choosing a wireless charger
Chargers that work without a wire have many nuances and subtleties. Andrei Ivanov, MegaFon's manager for product category management, told Gazeta.Ru on February 9 about the ways of choosing such a device.
"The main criterion when choosing is compatibility with your smartphone and other devices. Most modern phones and headphones support the Qi charging standard. However, some smart watches use their proprietary mount, which is incompatible with conventional wireless chargers. Also, not all wireless chargers will be able to charge your device quickly," the expert reported.
Typically, standard chargers have a power range of 5 to 15 watts. If the criterion of purchase is the speed of the process, you can consider for yourself options with increased power - 10-15 watts. In this case, before buying it is worth paying attention to the compatibility of the charger and the phone.
There is also a newer version of the Qi2 charging protocol, which has a number of advantages.
"For example, devices charge faster thanks to support for more powerful power supplies, up to 36W, and get less heat from charging, which extends battery life. Qi2 supports more devices: smartphones, smart watches, laptops, tablets, VR/AR headsets and external power supplies," said the specialist.
Qi2 protocol devices are also safer, as they are able to control coil heating and detect the presence of foreign objects in the charging zone.
Ivanov also noted that all wireless chargers are divided into several types - platforms, stands, and portable chargers.
On the platform the phone is charged in a horizontal position. The stand allows you to use the phone during the process in a vertical position. And portable chargers are compact devices with rechargeable batteries that will keep the process going even on the go.
"Be prepared for the smartphone to heat up more than with wired charging due to the magnetic effect of the coils. As for charging time, it is increased by a maximum of 20 minutes compared to wired charging," the expert summarized the features of charging the phone wirelessly.
Earlier, on February 6, experts named possible alternatives to smartphones based on AI. Among the possible options are next-generation neurointerfaces, projectors with augmented reality and wrist computers sewn under the skin.
