A politician called the flag of the "Georgian Legion" found in Russkoye Porechnoye a provocation

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) left a Georgian flag in the basement with the murdered residents of the Kursk village of Russkoe Porechnoye for the purpose of provocation. Mamuka Pipia, International Secretary of the Solidarity for Peace party, told Izvestia on February 7.

Earlier in the day, servicemen of the "North" group of troops reported the discovery of a Georgian flag belonging to the mercenaries of the "Georgian Legion" (an organization recognized as a terrorist organization in the Russian Federation, its activities are banned) fighting on the side of the AFU in the basement next to the bodies of murdered civilians in the village of Russkoe Porechnoye

"The discovery of a Georgian flag in the village of Russkoe Porechnoye is a provocation that may have been arranged by the AFU," Pipia said.

He expressed hope that the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation will sort out the situation and investigate where the flag came from.

On January 18, the military grouping of troops "North" published footage of the bodies of civilians found in basements in Russkoye Porechnoye. A criminal case on terrorism (item "b" part 3, article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) was opened over the murder. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at the time that the guilty Ukrainian militants would be punished.

Later it was reported that the bodies of the killed had traces of gunshot wounds and electric burns. On January 31, the Russian Investigative Committee identified five Ukrainian militants involved in the mass murder and rape in Russkoye Porechnoye. The Russian side promised to pass information about the AFU crimes to the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).

On February 1, the representative of the UN secretary-general Stephane Dujarric said that the international organization was against the killings of civilians, including in Russkoye Porechnoye. Zakharova pointed out on the same day that the AFU crimes in the village of Kursk confirm that the Kiev regime has a criminal nature.She also called it shameful that specialized agencies were silent about the actions of the Ukrainian army near Kursk. In her opinion, this shows indifference to what is happening.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
