An army aviation crew on a Mi-28 helicopter as part of a mixed tactical group has disrupted the rotation of Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) units in the border area of Kursk Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on February 6.

In the course of the combat mission to support ground troops, the pilots of the army aviation carried out missile launches at specified coordinates, hitting armored vehicles and manpower of Ukrainian formations.

After the attack, the crew performed an anti-missile maneuver at low altitude and fired heat cannons to prevent the Ukrainian army's man-portable surface-to-air missile system (MANPADS) missiles from hitting them.

Earlier, on February 5, the crew of the Mi-28 attack helicopter, acting as part of a mixed tactical group, was able to thwart an attempted rotation of the AFU in one of the border districts of Kursk region. It is specified that the advanced aviation gunner, who participated in the operation, confirmed the successful defeat and destruction of the target.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
