Uragan multiple rocket launcher systems (MLRS) of the Airborne Forces Artillery Brigade from Novorossiysk have hit strongholds with personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the border area of Kursk Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on February 6.

During aerial reconnaissance, camouflaged positions of the AFU with personnel were detected.

After receiving target coordinates from unmanned aviation units and reconnaissance data, the crews of 220-millimeter Uragan multiple rocket launchers struck at the identified targets.

The artillery fire was corrected and targets were hit using unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) calculations.

It is specified that during the performance of combat tasks the artillerymen used fragmentation-fugitive ammunition, which made it possible to inflict maximum damage to fortifications, buried fortifications, armored vehicles and personnel of Ukrainian formations.

Earlier, on February 3, Molniya-2 UAVs of the Tula Guards Airborne Unit struck and destroyed an AFU infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) in the border area of Kursk Region. The Molniya-2 drone is capable of higher speed than a conventional FPV drone, while carrying more cargo, the Defense Ministry said.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
