The Bank of Russia has noted a serious decrease in the number of complaints about incorrect bonus-malus coefficient (PBM) in 2024. This was reported by the official website of the regulator on February 5.

The Bank of Russia sees the reason for this in changes in the procedure for challenging the PBM.

"Complaints against insurers have become less by 30%, mainly due to the fact that the procedure for challenging the bonus-malus coefficient (PBM) has changed. Previously, a significant proportion of all complaints about CMTPL insurance were template complaints about checking the coefficient. They were processed by intermediaries for a fee, although citizens can correct the PBM on their own and free of charge," the regulator reports.

The Bank of Russia reminded that the bonus-malus coefficient can be found out in a personal account on the website of the National insurance information system. There it is also suggested to leave an appeal in case of disagreement with the value of the coefficient.

By the end of the year, such template complaints practically stopped coming to the Bank of Russia, the regulator said in a statement.

KBM - an indicator that takes into account the history of accidents that occurred through the fault of the driver, and insurance reimbursements for them. It allows motorists with accident-free record to insure their liability under MTPL insurance cheaper.

February 3, VSK insurance company said that men 35-44 years old remain the most dangerous motorists. They were responsible for 30% of road accidents last year.

In total, 83% of road accidents occurred through the fault of men (80% in 2023). The number of women - the perpetrators of road accidents, on the contrary, decreased by 20%, reported in VSK. Most road accidents are traditionally recorded in Moscow (8.77%). Krasnodar Krai (7%) is also in the top of the most accident-prone regions in 2024.
