Musk's team broke into a secure USAID vault with classified documents

The team of billionaire and entrepreneur Ilon Musk, who heads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has gained access to a secure room of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), which stored documents closed from outsiders. Bloomberg news agency reported that.
"A small group of Ilon Musk's aides arrived at the USAID building in Washington and demanded access to the agency's office space, including a secure room designed to store classified and confidential documents," the agency reported.
The team from DOGE, led by Musk, reportedly consisted of four people under the age of 30. When they attempted to enter the secured room, a conflict broke out between them and USAID security, during which one of the DOGE employees called Ilon Musk personally, who threatened the guards to engage the U.S. Marshals Service if his team was not allowed to enter.
"The team eventually gained access to at least part of what they were looking for," the reporters noted.
It is emphasized that the episode was the culmination of a conflict between Musk's department and the USAID, and came amid more than 100 USAID employees being placed on administrative leave, including staff from the offices of the inspector general, legislative and public affairs, and the security office. US President Donald Trump has now effectively curtailed USAID's core mission, freezing foreign aid on his first day in office as President of the United States.
Earlier, American billionaire Ilon Musk announced the launch of a process to dismantle USAID. Also, the entrepreneur said that the agency is not recoverable and should be gotten rid of.
At the same time, US President Donald Trump called the heads of USAID radical madmen. In a conversation with journalists, he said that his administration will decide on the future of the agency.
On January 20, the White House website published Trump's executive order on suspending Washington's development aid to other countries for 90 days. Later, on January 25, Reuters reported that USAID froze programs to support foreign countries, including Ukraine, after a State Department dispatch approved by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
