The administration of US President Donald Trump has begun to remove references to the dangerous climate situation from government websites. This was reported by The Guardian newspaper on February 4.

"A major climate portal on the Defense Department website has been removed, as has the main section on climate change on the State Department website. The climate change page on the White House website no longer exists," the article said.

According to the publication, information about the climate crisis has also disappeared from the websites of the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Transportation. In addition, it is noted that climate scientists report the disappearance of their articles from federal resources.

At the same time, it is pointed out that not all information on climate change has disappeared from U.S. government websites so far. The Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy have only made thematic sections less prominent on the home page, and NASA's climate portal has removed the word "climate" from its domain name.

"We have to prepare for the worst. The keys to the machine have been given to the polluters and fossil fuel plutocrats, and they intend to throw it off the climate cliff," University of Pennsylvania climatologist Michael Mann told the publication.

Since his inauguration on Jan. 20, Trump has signed more than 200 new executive orders. Among them is an executive order to withdraw from the Paris climate agreement. On February 4, Slovak member of the European Parliament (EP) Erik Kaliniak called on the EU to reconsider its climate policy amid Trump's withdrawal from the Paris Agreement.
