In China, a boy threw a firecracker into a sewer, causing a methane explosion that damaged eight cars parked in a parking lot. The damage to the vehicles is estimated at 285,000 yuan (almost $40,000), the Global Times reported on February 2.

Police officers tracked the boy down within an hour and began investigating the incident. No casualties or injuries were reported.

It is specified that a total of eight cars were affected, which were insured by three companies.
