The Russian Defense Ministry has proposed to change the categories of fitness for certain diseases

The Russian Ministry of Defense has proposed changes to the categories of eligibility for conscripts and contractors who become eligible for military registration or enter military service. This is stated in a draft decree of the Russian Government, posted on the official portal of draft regulatory legal acts

According to the draft, the changes will apply to persons liable for military service with diagnosed syphilis (primary, secondary and latent syphilis with a delayed reaction to the micro-reaction of precipitation). It is proposed to change the category of fitness from "limited fit" to "fit with minor restrictions". In addition, it is planned to delete the paragraph recognizing servicemen with late-onset and congenital syphilis as unfit for service.

The draft also provides for revision of categories of fitness, including for citizens with hypertension, post-traumatic and post-surgical defects of the skull bones. Many of the changes will apply only to contract servicemen.
