- Political analyst calls Merz's cooperation with the AdG a failed attempt to boost ratings

The decision of Friedrich Merz, candidate for chancellor of Germany and chairman of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), to cooperate with the far-right Alternative for Germany (AdG) party is an attempt to boost ratings before the election and a violation of political norms in the country. This was pointed out by Ruslan Andreev, an expert of the Polylog Group and political consultant, in a conversation with Izvestia on January 31.
The day before, Chancellor Olaf Scholz accused the CDU of violating taboos because of the joint vote in the Bundestag with the AdG on tightening migration laws. He also said he could not trust Merz after that.
"With his decision, Merz, in fact, broke the unspoken rule of the German political establishment - no cooperation with the extreme right-wing parties in Germany. Scholz's position is understandable - everyone in Germany has freedom except heirs/ followers of near-Nazi ideology," commented Andreyev.
However, he emphasized, such a position regarding the AdG is absurd and a substitution of concepts. This is the reason for the conflict between billionaire billionaire Ilon Musk, who is close to the American political elite, and Scholz. The businessman supported the right-wing force precisely because of the "adequate position on the migration issue and the preservation of Christian Europe," according to the interlocutor of the publication.
"It was on these same rails that Merz tried to "jump", first by announcing the possibility of supplying [long-range cruise missiles] Taurus to Ukraine, for which Scholz has long been criticized, and now of stricter control over migrants. "We see that both times he takes the CDU away from the 'center' for the sake of hype, but gets the opposite result," the political analyst summarized.
On the eve of the newspaper Bild with reference to the CDU representative reported that in Berlin evacuated the headquarters of the party. According to the media, this happened against the background of rallies against the cooperation of the CDU with the AdG.
Earlier, on January 29, at a meeting of the Bundestag, a vote was held on the tightening of migration legislation. According to the Bundestag administration, 187 deputies of the bloc of parties "Christian Democratic Union of Germany" and "Christian Social Union in Bavaria" (CDU/CSU), 75 deputies of the AdG, 80 members of the parliamentary faction of the "Free Democratic Party" (FDP) and six non-party deputies voted for the adoption of the bill, the necessary majority of 348 votes was obtained.
Before that, on January 20, German media reported that in the Bundestag next week may put up for consideration the issue of banning the political party "Alternative for Germany". According to its data, such an application was submitted to the German Parliament by a cross-party group of deputies, including a politician from the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) Karen Wegge, who urged the Bundestag to support the initiative.
