US President Donald Trump has invited Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to a meeting at the White House on February 4. This was announced by Netanyahu's office on Tuesday, January 28.
"US President Donald Trump has invited Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to a meeting at the White House on Tuesday, February 4. Prime Minister Netanyahu is the first foreign leader to be invited to the White House during Donald Trump's second term as president," The Jerusalem Post reported the statement as saying.
Earlier in the day, the official representative of the Foreign Ministry of Qatar Majid bin Mohammed al-Ansari said that the second stage of negotiations between the parties to the conflict in the Gaza Strip will be held on February 3.
Before that, on January 25, it became known that Netanyahu plans to meet with Trump for talks on the situation in Gaza, the peace agreement with Saudi Arabia and the escalation of the conflict with Iran.
Later, on January 26, Netanyahu thanked the U.S. president for lifting restrictions on the supply of 2000-pound bombs. He said the funds were needed for self-defense m to ensure future peace.
The situation in the Middle East escalated on the morning of October 7, 2023, when the Palestinian movement Hamas subjected Israel to a massive rocket attack from the Gaza Strip. On the same day, Israel launched retaliatory strikes.
