Matvienko called Moscow State University a national treasure of Russia

Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) is one of the symbols and national treasures of Russia. This was stated by Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko on January 28 at the opening of the MSU Days, timed to coincide with the 270th anniversary of the university.

"The anniversary of Moscow State University without any exaggeration is an event of a national scale. We can say that Moscow University is one of the symbols of our country, our priceless national treasure," Matvienko said.

She added that the unique resource of MSU will be directed to the development of Russia, to strengthening its economy, science, technology and industry.

"You are launching your space satellites, making quantum computers, building a scientific and technological valley. These achievements have become possible thanks to talented, determined people who are able to think outside the box," the Federation Council Speaker said.

Matvienko also noted that the Council of Federation and the Moscow university have been cooperating for a long time, so they intend to develop these ties further. In addition, she expressed confidence that a great future awaits Russia with such a scientific school and professional team.

Rector of Moscow State University Viktor Sadovnichy, in turn, thanked for the opportunity to present a historical exposition about the university in the Federation Council and presented Matvienko with a commemorative anniversary sign "270 years of Moscow State University".

According to the press service of the Federation Council, on this day the upper house of parliament also held a solemn ceremony of stamp stamping dedicated to the anniversary of Moscow State University, which depicts the main building of the university and the monument to Mikhail Vasilyevich Lomonosov.
