Due to abnormally low air temperatures in Penzhinsky district of the Kamchatka region, a high alert mode has been introduced. This was reported on January 28 on the website of the regional government.
"This year Kamchatka has an abnormal snowless winter, and we are constantly haunted by frost, especially in the North. Right now in Penzhinsky district of Kamchatka Krai in the villages of Slautnoe, Talovka, Paren, Ayanka, Kamenskoye and Manily the temperature reaches - 46° degrees. The situation is extremely difficult. By the decision of the Emergency Committee of Penzhinsky district was introduced heightened readiness" - the words of the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Kamchatka region Sergey Lebedev are quoted.
Lebedev also noted that emergency teams are ready to react in case of leaks, and all power supplying enterprises have been put on high alert.
In conditions of abnormally low temperatures, residents were advised not to open doors and windows in the premises, not to leave the house without an emergency, to turn on independent heating systems.
According to the forecast of the hydrometeorological center of the Kamchatka region, abnormally low temperatures will last in Penzhinsky district until January 31.
Earlier, on January 28, the scientific head of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand said that January in the capital region will be the warmest in the history of meteorological observations, and the average temperature background in Moscow will become positive for the first time.
