The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) dropped an incendiary shell on the Holy Trinity Church near Shebekino in Belgorod Region using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). This was reported on January 27 on the website of the Belgorod and Starooskolsk diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC).

The incident occurred the day before in the village of Murom. It is specified that the attack was made with the help of a drone "Baba-Yaga", tentatively using thermobaric shells. In addition, after the shelling, the UAV circled for a long time over the structure and attacked the fire trucks that arrived to extinguish the fire.

"As a result of the targeted attack and a strong fire completely burned out only the central dome of the temple, and was damaged part of the wall paintings inside", - stated in the publication.

It is noted that the wall of the temple also received minor damage. The structure is promised to restore.

Earlier in the day, the governor of Belgorod region Vyacheslav Gladkov reported on the attack of the AFU on the city of Graivoron. As a result, the glazing of a private house was damaged and a gas pipeline was broken. Power lines were also damaged, part of the settlement was left without light.

The AFU is trying to strike Russian territories against the background of the special operation in Donbass, the beginning of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
