Szijjártó: Hungary has received energy security guarantees from the EC

The European Commission (EC) has received the required energy security guarantees from Hungary, without which it could not officially introduce the extension of sanctions measures against Russia. This was announced by the country's Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto on January 27.
"Hungary has received the required guarantees on the energy security of our country. The EC has undertaken to protect gas and oil pipelines leading to the EU member states," Sijjarto pointed out on his page in the social network Facebook (belongs to the organization Meta, recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).
According to him, the EC members also demanded that Ukraine provide them with guarantees to maintain oil supplies to the European Union (EU).
Earlier in the day, the head of EU diplomacy Kaja Kallas officially confirmed the extension of anti-Russian sanctions by the association for six months. Before this, on January 25, Szijjártó , before the possible extension of sanctions against Russia, demanded from Ukraine and the EU guarantees of Hungary's energy security. In his statement, he noted that Hungary can no longer pay the price for other people's conflicts, risking its own energy security.
At the same time, the Hungarian minister said after a telephone conversation with Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar that Hungary and Turkey considered Kiev's attacks on the Turkish Stream pipeline unacceptable. Siyarto recalled that "Turkish Stream" plays an important role in providing the country with natural gas. On January 18, he said that the Turkish Stream pipeline brought 7.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Hungary, which is an absolute record.
Earlier, on January 22, Lubosh Blaha, a member of the European Parliament (EP) from Slovakia, said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, whose powers expired on May 20, 2024, is a dictator and a lobbyist who acts in the interests of US energy companies. The MEP urged to find those responsible for the undermining of the two Nord Stream gas pipelines and the attacks on Turkish Stream, as well as to stop making up rumors about Russia and exalting Zelensky, who betrayed Europe.
