Defense Ministry shows footage of the liberation of the village of Zelenoye in the DNR
The Russian Defense Ministry has shown footage of combat work by units of the Center group of troops during the liberation of the settlement of Zeloye in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR).
"In the course of offensive actions, assault units destroyed firing points and command and observation posts of Ukrainian militants, as well as engaged artillery calculations to destroy uncovered enemy positions," the Defense Ministry said.
Strike unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were also actively used during the mop-up operation. After the assault, fighters of the Russian Armed Forces (AF) entered the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and engaged in combat with those who did not wish to surrender.
Earlier, on January 26, the Russian Armed Forces (RFAF) liberated the settlement of Velyka Novoselka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR).
Also on that day, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the military grouping of troops "Vostok" destroyed the AFU strongholds in Velyka Novoselka. The operation involved rocket and barrel artillery calculations and FPV drone operators who supported the attackers.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
