Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov has congratulated servicemen on the liberation of the settlement of Velikaya Novoselka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR). This was reported in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

"Belousov congratulated the command and personnel of the 5th Guards Independent Tank Brigade of the 36th Army and the 40th Guards Marine Brigade of the Vostok group of forces for the successful fulfillment of combat tasks during the liberation of the settlement of Velikaya Novoselka in the Donetsk People's Republic," the ministry's Telegram channel said.

Earlier in the day, the Defense Ministry reported the liberation of Velikaya Novoselka and Zelenoye in the DNR. In addition, the fighters of the Center defeated the personnel and equipment of six brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the areas of the settlements of Dzerzhinsk, Andreevka, Novoelizavetovka, Sribnoye, Novopavlovka and Shcherbinovka.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
