T-80BV tankers of the Southern Group of Forces destroyed an AFU BMP and tank
The crew of a T-80BV tank of a separate motorized rifle brigade of the 3rd Army Corps has destroyed a Ukrainian tank and an infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) with two targeted hits in the Chasovyar direction of the Special Military Operation (SMO) zone. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 27.
"Tank crews of the Southern grouping of troops due to high mobility and huge firepower successfully help to destroy armored vehicles of the AFU both during the battle and from closed firing positions, as well as support with fire assault groups of motorized rifle units during offensive operations," the ministry said.
The equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) was detected from a reconnaissance drone, after which information about its movement was transmitted to the troops. It is reported that the command of the unit immediately decided to strike at the identified targets.
On January 26, the Defense Ministry showed footage of the hoisting of Russian flags in Velikaya Novoselka in the DNR. The work to liberate the settlement was carried out by units of the 5th Guards Independent Tank Brigade of the 36th Army and the 40th Guards Marine Brigade of the Vostok group of forces.
The Russian Armed Forces liberated Velikaya Novoselka in the DNR earlier in the day. Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov congratulated the servicemen on the successful completion of the task.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
