The President USA Donald Trump is more likely not to run for a third term in office, as neither the Democrats nor his associates will appreciate this idea. Pavel Feldman, Candidate of Political Sciences, Professor at the Academy of Labor and Social Relations, shared this opinion with Izvestia on January 24.

On the eve, a member of the House of Representatives of the US Congress, Andy Ogles, proposed at the constitutional level href="https://iz.ru/1827616/2025-01-24/v-kongresse-ssha-predlozhili-izmenit-konstitutciiu-radi-pereizbraniia-trampa-v-2028-godu " target="_blank">allow the president of the country to be re-elected for a third term. The draft resolution on the amendment states that such a decision would give Trump more resources to correct the mistakes of his predecessor's course.Joe Biden.

"The probability of giving Trump a legitimate opportunity to run for a third term is negligible. Americans consider their constitution almost sacred, and no serious politician would dare to change the two-hundred-year-old order of transfer of power. Democrats and old Republicans will definitely not appreciate this idea," Feldman commented.

In addition, he noted, by the time his term ends, he will be 82 years old. It's not the best age to participate in another election race, the expert added. At the same time, the 47th president of the United States is surrounded by ambitious young associates, each of whom sees himself as his potential successor in 2029. They are clearly not interested in extending Trump's term of office, the source concluded.

"Trump will be looking for the most reliable person among the members of his young team who will be the best follower of his endeavors. It is quite possible that he will choose one of his close relatives as his successor," the political scientist admitted.

Earlier, on January 20th, Trump took the oath of office, becoming the 47th president of the United States. This is his second presidential term, the first time he was an American leader in 2017-2021. In his inaugural address, the new President of the United States announced the beginning of the "golden age of America".

The election of the 47th President of the United States took place on November 5, 2024. In the popular vote, Trump received 51% of the vote, while Democratic candidate Kamala Harris received 47.4%.
