Naryshkin says Russia's influence in the Middle East remains intact
Russia retains its position in the Middle East as an influential player, Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Sergei Naryshkin said on January 24.
"Russia is a very influential player in the Middle East, and this is understood by the countries of the Arab world and Turkey," he told TASS, commenting on the relevant publications of Western media.
In this regard, there is no loss of Russian positions in the Middle East region, the SVR head added.
Earlier, on January 17, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the balance of power in the Middle East should be based on the UN Charter. At the same time, the Russian leader pointed out that no state should try to use the norms of international law for selfish interests.
