Trump blamed Biden's policies for overcrowding the U.S. with migrants
US President Donald Trump said that because of Joe Biden there are more than 21 million migrants in the country, most of whom are criminals. On January 22, the Republican leader said in an interview with Fox News TV channel.
"It was a big mistake of common sense to let people come in. And I believe the numbers - 21 million people and a large percentage of them are criminals from all over the world," said the head of the United States.
According to him, there are thousands of terrorists and tens of thousands of murderers at large in the country. Trump noted that 48% of them have killed one person or more.
The US President said that Biden was to blame for this situation, he allowed it to happen.
On the same day, Trump restricted the right of illegal migrants who entered the US through the southern border to stay in the country under the pretext of requesting asylum. In addition, using his authority, the head of the United States further restricted access to immigration law provisions that would have allowed any illegal alien to remain in the United States, such as through asylum.
Earlier in the day, the media learned of U.S. plans to send thousands of military personnel to protect the border with Mexico. To date, about 2.2 thousand military personnel are already on the border as part of Task Force North in El Paso, Texas.
Before that, on January 21, the curator of border security in the Trump administration Thomas Homan said that the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) began to detain illegal migrants for their further deportation. He noted, however, that ICE's actions cannot be called raids, as they are part of targeted law enforcement operations.
On the same day, a coalition of at least 18 US states filed a lawsuit against the president's decision to limit the granting of US citizenship by birthright. Another group of states, which included Arizona and Washington, filed another separate lawsuit against Trump's signature decision.
