Private Garipov repulsed an AFU sabotage group in the SSO zone
Private Ilfat Garipov noticed the approach of a sabotage group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) while he was on duty at an observation post. On Thursday, January 23, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on the exploits of Russian army servicemen in carrying out combat missions in the zone of the special military operation (SMO).
Having made a decision to ambush the approaching enemy, Garipov found a suitable hiding place and waited for the AFU to approach. When the saboteurs came closer, the private opened fire, causing serious damage to the enemy. The enemy hastily retreated, losing a significant part of its personnel and leaving the wounded on the battlefield.
The Russian Defense Ministry also noted the courageous and decisive actions of Private Ivan Kotyagov, who was carrying out the task of supplying ammunition to the assault groups of the Russian army. When Kotyagov was making another trip as part of a convoy, it was attacked by Ukrainian mortars.
If an enemy shell had hit a vehicle filled with ammunition, a significant part of the convoy would have been destroyed. To prevent this, Kotyagov began to skillfully maneuver the vehicle out of the mortar fire. As a result, the cargo was secured, and the private delivered the ammunition to Russian units on the front lines on time.
Earlier, on January 22, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Sergeant Vladimir Erofeev commanded an assault group at one of the important areas of the Russian troops' offensive and managed to capture an AFU stronghold without losses.
Prior to that, on January 21, the agency reported that junior sergeant Abubakar Arsunkaev conducted artillery fire correction and contributed to the destruction of an American-made Bradley infantry fighting vehicle (IFV).
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
