Putin announced indexation of social benefits to actual inflation in 2025

Insurance pensions in Russia will be indexed by 9.5% in line with actual inflation. This was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on January 22 at the first meeting on economic issues this year.
"Social payments and benefits this year will be indexed to actual inflation. It exceeded the target values and expectations of the Central Bank at the end of last year and amounted to 9.5%. I would like to note that inflation was also higher than the government's forecast," Putin emphasized.
Military and insurance pensions in the country will be additionally indexed from January 1, taking into account the rise in prices, the head of state added.
"I propose to index insurance pensions already in January, based on the real situation, namely - according to the actual inflation of last year, that is, by 9.5%. I understand that the first month of the year is almost over, so I ask to implement this decision, as they call it, retroactively," he concluded.
Earlier, on January 9, State Duma deputy Svetlana Bessarab said that in Russia in 2025 many social payments will be increased. She added that some social support measures will be improved. Thus, this year additional amounts will be distributed to the regions to increase the birth rate.
