Increased pension: when it will come for January 2025

Some pensioners will be able to get accrual for January early, at the end of 2024. This was reported on December 23 in the press service of the Social Fund of Russia (SFR).
"Until December 28, early payments for January will arrive to those whose pension transfer through the bank falls on the days of the New Year holidays, from the 1st to the 9th day," - told in Telegram-channel.
The message also noted that early payments affect all types of pensions, including insurance, social, cumulative, old-age and disability pensions. It is important that insurance pensions for January will come already in the indexed amount. At the same time, the next payment to those who will receive two pensions in December will be only in early February.
Indexation from January 1 and from April 1 - by how much pensions will be increased
In January, insurance pensions will be indexed, i.e. payments to those who have reached retirement age, accumulated the necessary length of service and pension coefficients. Indexation will also affect insurance pensions for disability and survivor pensions. From January 1, 2025, it will increase by 7.3% and will amount to Br24 thousand on average.
Also for the first time, the FIS will index payments to working pensioners by 7.3%. At the same time, as explained in the fund, the level of indexation will be considered not from the amount, which a working pensioner receives now, but from the amount he could receive if he was a non-working pensioner. The increase may amount to about Br2 thousand, the SFD gives an example.
In addition to indexation, working pensioners will retain the August increase in payments due to the growth of the value of pension points.
April 1, 2025, it is planned to index social pensions - they are received by people who have no work experience, or those who have not accumulated enough work experience to receive an insurance pension.
After indexation on April 1, 2025, the size of the social pension will amount to Br15,456. At the same time, the social pension should not be lower than the regional subsistence minimum, so if necessary, pensioners will receive a supplement from the region.
The SFD noted that the indexation will be determined by the inflation forecast, but if its real percentage is different, the government has the right to further additional indexation of the pension.
Changes in the rules of accrual of pensions in 2025
From 2025, pensioners who have reached the age of 80 and people with disability of group I will receive an additional payment of 1.2 thousand rubles. This compensation will become automatic - the pensioner will not need to submit an application, as the Social Fund of Russia will independently process data from federal databases.
Another significant innovation concerns insurance pensions for loss of breadwinner: widows and widowers of servicemen raising their children will be entitled to this pension. This expansion of the categories of recipients is aimed at strengthening social support for military families.
In addition to changes in pension payments in 2025, the process of receiving supplements and recalculations of pensions will be simplified. Pensioners will no longer be obliged to apply for recalculation - all procedures will be carried out automatically on the basis of the data that are already available to social security bodies.
Finally, the residents of Donbas should also feel the changes. During the combined big press conference and direct line on December 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to solve without bureaucracy the issue of length of service for the calculation of pensions in Donbass. So he reacted to the appeal of a pensioner from Donetsk, who cannot receive a pension because he lost his labor book in a fire.
Putin agreed that this is an important problem for people, which until recently was difficult to solve. At the same time, not so long ago a federal law was adopted to take into account the length of service received by a person in previous years and decades, the president recalled.
