The AFU lost more than 390 soldiers in Kursk region over the day


The losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) in Kursk Region amounted to more than 390 servicemen over the day. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 22.
In addition, the Russian army eliminated four Ukrainian tanks, an armored personnel carrier, 11 armored combat vehicles, 12 vehicles, six artillery pieces, four mortars, a radio-electronic warfare (REB) station, as well as one unit of engineering equipment.
The AFU also lost six unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) control points and two ammunition depots.
In the areas of 10 localities, units of the "North" group hit formations of a tank brigade, a heavy mechanized brigade, four mechanized brigades, and two airborne assault brigades. The Marine Brigade and three brigades of territorial defense of the AFU were also hit.
Servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces (AF) by strikes of operational-tactical, army aviation and artillery fire hit the Ukrainian army's manpower and equipment in the areas of 24 settlements.
Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry reported the defeat of AFU strongholds in the Kursk border area by units of the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Troops of the Tula Guards Airborne Compound, consisting of TOS-1A Solntsepek heavy flamethrower systems. After accomplishing the combat mission, the unit changed positions as soon as possible and promptly reloaded the systems.
The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
