France calls Trump's advice to Macron about leaving the European Union the best

US President Donald Trump's advice to French leader Emmanuel Macron on France's withdrawal from the European Union (EU) is the best advice he could give. Florian Philippot, leader of the French Patriots party, said on January 21.
"Trump told Macron that France should leave Europe! That's the best advice he could give!" - Philippot said in a post on social network X (formerly Twitter).
The politician added that Macron, in turn, refused the offer.
In the summer of 2018, The Washington Post, citing sources in the governments of Europe, reported that Trump asked Macron why he did not withdraw France from the European Union. At the same time, the American leader added that if they leave the EU, the U.S. would enter into a bilateral agreement with France on better terms than the European Union has as a single organization.
The day before, French Prime Minister Francois Bayrou said that France and the EU will be "crushed" by Trump's policy if the Europeans do nothing. Thus, according to the politician, France and the EU will face a challenge at the international level in the form of Trump's policy after his assumption of office as head of state.
Before that, on January 15, former Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl said that Trump does not care about the European Union, which is currently in crisis. She expressed confidence that the politician is wise enough to focus on the problems of the United States after coming to power.
