Germany must radically change its political course, the head of the Alternative for Germany (AdG) party in Thuringia, Björn Höcke, said at the party congress. The video was published on January 14 on the YouTube channel Beat.

"The wind of change is blowing in Germany. More and more people I talk to realize that things can't go on like this anymore. <...> We need a radical change of political course," Höcke said.

According to him, this can only be done with the AdG party.

Höcke noted that representatives of the future administration of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump are in favor of freedom of speech.

"I believe that this is what we need to achieve in Germany - to get rid of the stuffy climate of discussions, to stop discussing what we can and can not talk about, but to talk about what we want to talk about," he emphasized.

Earlier, on January 11, it was reported that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz strengthens criticism of Trump's expansionist rhetoric. At the party congress in Berlin, Scholz spoke about the uncertain times in relations with Washington, and also pointed to the rise of the extreme right in neighboring Austria.

Prior to that, on Dec. 15, 2024, the AdG in Thuringia presented a resolution for peace and German sovereignty in three languages - German, English and Russian.

On November 29, the party advocated the country's exit from the European Union (EU) in its election program. The AdG also added a call to resume trade with Russia and Russian gas supplies to the FRG in the final draft of the program.
