A woman threw a cake-like object in the face of former German Finance Minister Lindner

An unknown woman threw an object resembling a cake at former German Finance Minister and leader of the Free Democratic Party of Germany (FDP) Christian Lindner and hit him in the face. This was reported by the newspaper Bild on January 9.

The incident, which occurred during an election event with the participation of the politician in Greifswald (Mecklenburg), was caught on video. According to a party spokesman and an eyewitness, the pseudo-cake, on the bottom of which was written "For the love of freedom", consisted of shaving cream. Lindner himself smeared some of the foam back onto the attacker's hair. The politician then tasted the foam and continued his speech.

"Unfortunately, it wasn't cream, it was just soap," he said, indicating that he would proudly wear those marks of the struggle.

Police are investigating what happened. The attacker is believed to be student Christiana K., a member of a left-wing student group at the University of Greifswald.
