Economist told about the probable additional indexation of pensions

Director of the Institute of New Society, economist Vasily Koltashov admitted on January 9 that the government may carry out additional indexation of pensions in February 2025.

"Official data may come in January. They will give a largely smoothed out picture of inflation, but they will still show that inflation is quite high <...> We have an inflation target of 4%," he said on Komsomolskaya Pravda radio.

According to him, after the government receives data on inflation, it will be decided to make an additional indexation, the size of which is likely to be 5-7%.

November 30, 2024 Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the law on the budget of the Pension and Social Insurance Fund for 2025-2027, according to which the social pension will be indexed by 14.75%. After indexation, its amount will be 15,456 rubles on April 1, 2025. In addition, insurance pensions will be increased by 7.3% on January 1, 2025.
