MP Chaplin spoke about changes in the calculation of pension points in 2025

In 2025, Russian pensioners will have to adapt to new economic conditions when planning their pension savings. This was announced on January 8 by State Duma deputy and member of the Committee on Budget and Taxes Nikita Chaplin.

"An important criterion for this will be earnings: to earn one pension point, citizens must earn at least 275,900 rubles for the year, which is equivalent to a monthly income of 22,991 rubles 67 kopecks," he told RT.

According to the parliamentarian, this indicator is crucial for the formation of future insurance pensions.

Chaplin also noted that the more individual pension coefficients one manages to accumulate during work, the more pension payments will be in the future. This year, Russians should accumulate at least 30 pension points for registration of an insurance pension.

In addition, it is worth remembering that the calculation of the pension may include socially significant periods, such as caring for a child up to one and a half years old or service in the army. They add additional points, which contributes to an increase in the size of the future pension, concluded the Deputy.

On the same day Chaplin said that in 2026 two indexation of pensions are expected: by 4.5% from February 1 and 5.5% from April 1.

Before that, on January 3, an expert of the Presidential Academy Marina Solodovnikova reminded that in 2025 working pensioners will return pension indexation, which was suspended in 2016. She specified that indexation will be applied to the pension amount, which takes into account all indexations since 2016, and not to the already paid insurance pension. In addition, Solodovnikova added that the cost of one pension point will increase to 142.76 rubles from 133.05 rubles.

January 1, it became known that from the beginning of 2025 in Russia increased pensions. It was noted that the indexed pension from the beginning of 2025 will receive about 9 million working pensioners in Russia.

November 30, 2024 Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the law on the budget of the Pension and Social Insurance Fund for 2025-2027, according to which the social pension will be indexed by 14.75%. After indexation, its amount will be 15,456 rubles on April 1, 2025. In addition, insurance pensions will be increased by 7.3% on January 1, 2025.
