At least four people died due to a winter storm that hit the central part of the United States. This was reported by NBC News on January 6.

In the state of Missouri, 61-year-old Everett Carter died as a result of a fatal injury he received while shoveling snow.

On Sunday, January 5, two people were killed in a weather-related crash in the state of Kansas. According to a report from the Highway Patrol, an SUV skidded while traveling and the vehicle had to go down an embankment, causing the vehicle to flip over several times.

"Both passengers were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected from the vehicle," the Kansas Highway Patrol report said.

In Texas, the body of a local man was found deceased from hypothermia. The Metro Police Department is investigating the case as the body was found right in front of a bus stop.

Earlier, on January 5, the TV channel SNN warned about possible record snowfalls during the storm in the United States. It is noted that snowfall and icy conditions are already observed in the central part of the country. As indicated by the TV channel, the amount of snowfall in some areas 35 cm, and the thickness of ice - 70 mm.

On the same day in Washington introduced a state of emergency in connection with the impending snowstorm. Mayor Muriel Bowser urged residents to remove cars from emergency routes and stay at home. She also added that all schools in the city would be closed on January 6.
