Social network X (former Twitter) has been used more than once to organize "color revolutions" and the "Arab Spring", and France supported it, but now President Emmanuel Macron is dissatisfied and accuses the owner of the social network, American billionaire Ilon Musk, of alleged interference in elections. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova on January 6.

Earlier in the day, Macron said during his speech, which was broadcast on the page of the Elysee Palace in X, that Musk allegedly supports the "new reactionary international" and directly interferes in elections, for example, in Germany.

"That is, when this same social network was called Twitter and was directly used not just to interfere in elections, but with its help organized "color revolutions" and "Arab spring", simply put, the change of power in a number of countries, then Paris was not that it did not care - it with all its might inflated and supported these processes," Zakharova wrote in her Telegram-channel.

She recalled that after those events there was a migration of hundreds of thousands of refugees who came to Europe, including France. In addition, there was a surge in extremism and terrorism because of these revolutions. "Arab Spring" in Egypt and Tunisia are still called Twitter Revolutions. Moreover, Paris was calm about the way Russophobia was spreading on Twitter, extremist content was not removed and strange moderation rules were adopted.

The Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman pointed out that now the social network has changed its name, owner and political vector, and against this background Macron became alarmed, although all the changes took place within the framework of the "rules-based world order" promoted by the West. Zakharova expressed bewilderment that the French President does not like to live by those rules, which he himself promoted, reports "Gazeta.Ru".

Earlier, on December 31, Musk published a post with an insult to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. On the same day, the billionaire expressed confidence in the victory of the Alternative for Germany (AdG) party in the upcoming parliamentary elections. Musk suggested that the political force will win an impressive victory, as the AdG's approval level has reached record highs.

Lars Klingbeil, co-chairman of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), called on December 30 to limit the influence of X in Europe because of Musk's attempt to influence the German elections through posts on the social network and an article in the newspaper Welt am Sonntag, supporting the AdG.

Later, on January 1, the head of the SPD faction in the German parliament, Rolf Mützenich, said that the billionaire had crossed the boundaries of what was acceptable in his statements, and his words could exacerbate German-American relations.
