The probable lowering of the mobilization age in Ukraine to 18 will cause a new wave of refugees to the European Union (EU) countries. This was reported by the press bureau of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) on January 3.

"Eastern European countries bordering Ukraine are tacitly already preparing to receive new waves of Ukrainian refugees, who this time will be fleeing not from a fictitious threat from Russia, but from the real danger of getting a one-way ticket to the front," the service said.

It also noted Washington's realization that simply providing logistical support to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) would not be enough to stabilize the front line. Therefore, the White House demanded from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (term of office expired on May 20, 2024) to urgently lower the age of mobilization to 18 years. And such a decision Kiev is preparing to make in the near future.

According to the SVR, residents of Ukraine's regions will be ready to take any steps to leave the country.

The SVR also noted that the West does not rule out the imminent collapse of the defense of the AFU and notes a general decline in the country's ability to confront the army of Russia.

Earlier, on December 24, 2024, the El Pais newspaper reported that the Ukrainian authorities would like EU countries to stop supporting Ukrainian refugees.

On the same day, political analyst Ruslan Kalinchuk said in a conversation with Izvestiya that if the Ukrainian conflict continues, Kiev may facilitate the expulsion of the country's citizens who fled to Europe for their subsequent mobilization.

On December 22, the State Border Service of the country reported that over the past 24 hours, 150 thousand citizens crossed the border of Ukraine for entry and exit, which is one of the highest figures in recent years. It is noted that the growth of those wishing to leave the country was recorded at all sites.

Martial law in Ukraine has been in force since February 2022. Most men between the ages of 18 and 60 are forbidden to leave the country. In April 2024, the head of the Kiev regime approved the law on tougher mobilization.
