Residents of the easternmost regions of the country - Kamchatka and Chukotka - were the first in Russia to celebrate the year 2025. This happened at 15:00 Moscow time.
In total, the holiday will be celebrated 11 times in Russia. At 16:00 Moscow time the celebration will begin in the northeastern part of Yakutia, on Sakhalin and in the Magadan region, as well as in the Kurils. At 17:00 Moscow time the New Year will come in Vladivostok (Primorsky Krai), Khabarovsk Krai, Jewish Autonomous Region, and also in the northern part of Yakutia. Further in the Amur region, central and western parts of Yakutia, Transbaikal Territory - at 18:00 Moscow time.
At 19:00 Moscow time the New Year will come in Buryatia and Irkutsk region, then - at 20:00 Moscow time - in Kemerovo, Tomsk and Novosibirsk regions, Krasnoyarsk, Altai Krai, the Republics of Altai, Tuva and Khakassia, and at 21:00 Moscow time - in Omsk region (21:00 Moscow time).
In the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Chelyabinsk Oblast, Perm Krai, Kurgan, Orenburg, Sverdlovsk and Tyumen Oblasts, Bashkortostan, Khanty-Mansiysk Okrug the New Year will be celebrated at 22:00 Moscow time.
In Udmurtia, Saratov, Astrakhan, Samara and Ulyanovsk regions the holiday will be celebrated an hour earlier than Muscovites.
The inhabitants of the Kaliningrad region will be the last to celebrate the New Year - 01:00 Moscow time.
Earlier in the day, Russian cosmonauts Alexei Ovchinin, Ivan Wagner and Alexander Gorbunov, who are aboard the International Space Station (ISS), congratulated their compatriots on the coming New Year. They urged their fellow citizens to do good and give smiles to those around them in the new year.
