On December 31, American billionaire Ilon Musk published in social network X a post insulting the Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz.

"Chancellor Oaf (English - oaf - fool. - Ed.) Schitz (playing the English word shit - shit. - Ed.), or whatever his name is, will lose," Musk wrote.

Earlier in the day, Musk expressed confidence in the victory of the party "Alternative for Germany" (AdG) in the upcoming parliamentary elections. He noted that the party will win a grand victory, thus commenting on the information about the record approval marks of the AdG.

The day before, Berlin said Musk was trying to influence the German elections with posts on his social network X and an article in the Welt am Sonntag newspaper in support of the right-wing Alternative for Germany party.

On December 16, 2024, the Bundestag held a plenary session to pass a vote of confidence in the government. The meeting resulted in a vote of no confidence in Scholz.

Early parliamentary elections in Germany will be held on February 23, 2025. They were scheduled after the coalition of the Social Democratic Party (SPD), the Greens and the Free Democratic Party (FDP), formed in 2021, collapsed.
