Weather forecaster tells of "real winter" coming to Moscow
The weather in Moscow on December 31 is formed by a cold atmospheric front, and the most noticeable precipitation - snow - will last until 16:00 Moscow time, after which it will weaken and decrease. This was reported to "Izvestia" on December 31 by leading expert of the weather center "Phobos" Miakhil Leus.
The forecaster added that the maximum temperature in Moscow today will be from 0 to +2 degrees, and the snow layer may increase to about 3-5 cm.
"The nearest night over the capital will be located a small ridge of anticyclone, it will lower the probability of precipitation, and the temperature will begin to fall. At midnight in Moscow -1... -3 degrees, by morning -4 ... -6 and strong icing", - said Leus.
As for the second half of the day on January 1, the expert promises the approach of another warm front. According to him, it will snow, turning into wet snow. And by evening, the temperature will rise to 0 ... +2 degrees.
On Friday, after the departure of the cyclone, the temperature will drop to -3... -5 degrees Celsius, and ice will form.
The forecaster emphasized that already on January 4 and 5 in Moscow will begin "real winter".
Earlier in the day it was reported that residents of the capital region on December 31 expect cloudy weather, precipitation in the form of snow, sleet and rain, icy conditions and up to +3 degrees.
On the eve, December 30, the scientific head of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand said that in Moscow on New Year's Eve will be wet snow, wind 5-10 m / s and the temperature to -4 degrees, and in the region may be cold to -6 degrees. The forecaster noted that on December 31, snow and wet snow are expected due to lower temperatures in the upper atmosphere, and the wind will increase to 15 m/s, while January 1 and 2 is expected to be about 0 degrees.
