Authorities have urged Germans to continue saving gas


The head of Germany's Federal Network Agency (regulator) Klaus Muller urged citizens to use energy sparingly. This was reported on December 31 by the German TV channel Welt.
"It is still worth saving gas and thus relieve the burden on your wallet," the publication quotes Muller's words.
The head of the German regulator noted that gas consumption has increased significantly compared to last year. According to him, the storage facility is 80% full. In 2023, this figure was higher.
The material cites the assessment of the Federal Network Agency, according to which gas consumption in Germany in the current heating season - from October to December - increased by 5.8% compared to the same period last year.
Earlier, on December 28, former member of the European Parliament (EP), French politician Hervé Juvene called one of the reasons for the economic crisis in Germany the cessation of cheap oil and gas supplies from Russia. High energy prices are putting a lot of pressure on German industry.
On December 23, British analyst Alexander Mercouris called the decision to cut Germany off from cheap and reliable gas supplies from Russia a fundamental problem for the economic crisis in Germany.
Before that, December 18, it was reported that the share of gas imports from Russia to European countries has increased again, the country remains one of the largest suppliers of gas to Europe. It is noted that at the moment Europeans are paying more for energy, and some of the most energy-intensive industries are struggling to remain competitive.
Earlier, on December 16, Bloomberg reported that the German economy is stagnating and approaching the point of no return. According to analysts, the country is experiencing an energy crisis, and each household loses about €2.5 thousand a year.
