Dodon says Moldova will restore relations with Russia in the future

Former Moldovan President and leader of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) Igor Dodon said that the government to be formed in the country after parliamentary elections in 2025 will restore relations with Russia. He said in a video broadcast on his Telegram on December 30.
"We will restore relations with Russia. I believe that the government that will be formed after the parliamentary elections should go to Moscow for negotiations. We guarantee this," Dodon said.
In addition, the PSRM leader promised to lift all sanctions that do not correspond to Moldova's national interests, including the resumption of direct flights to Moscow and money transfers.
Dodon also noted that the results of Moldovan incumbent President Maia Sandu's rule are the closure of many media outlets, the "destruction of democracy" and the "establishment of tyranny."
According to him, it was Sandu's policy that led the country to economic, social and energy crises. The politician expressed the opinion that the victory of the incumbent head of state in the presidential election is the result of falsifications inside the country.
The day before, on December 30, Dodon called on the opposition forces to unite in order to achieve a change of power in the country. According to him, the activity of the ruling party "Action and Solidarity" is completely contrary to the interests of citizens.
Earlier, on October 31, the Moldovan opposition staged a protest outside the Constitutional Court against the recognition of the results of the referendum on EU accession.
On December 19, Dodon said that Moldova was in a pre-revolutionary situation. The former president added that the protests in the country will only grow, so he calls for protests without slogans and flags so that the current government realizes its incompetence.
Before that, on October 20, Moldova held a referendum on the country's European integration and presidential elections among 11 candidates. Only nine out of 36 districts of Moldova voted in favor of changing the Constitution for the sake of joining the EU, while in Gagauzia more than 90% of those who voted were against European integration. On 25 October, the Moldovan Central Electoral Commission recognized the referendum as valid, approved its final results and sent them to the country's Constitutional Court for approval.
