Kremlin says no new conversation with Scholz on Putin's schedule

Russian President Vladimir Putin 's schedule does not yet include a new conversation with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who has said that he is ready to discuss the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine with the Russian leader once again. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on December 28.
"No, there are no plans," the presidential spokesman said at a briefing.
The day before, on December 27, Scholz said that he would like to talk to Putin again on the topic of Ukraine, as he believes that "one should not be naive or have illusions." The chancellor also reiterated that he does not intend to send German troops to Ukraine, but Berlin will continue its military support for Kiev.
Earlier, on December 20, Scholz said at a press conference that he intends to continue talking to Putin. He made similar remarks on December 12. Der Spiegel magazine also wrote that Scholz might soon visit Moscow on a "peace mission," but the German government ruled out such a possibility.
In mid-November, Putin and Scholz had their first telephone conversation in two years, which took place at the initiative of the German side. Peskov called the fact of the dialog positive. The talks were mainly devoted to Ukraine.
After, on December 16, it became known that the German Bundestag deprived of confidence in the government of Chancellor Scholz. At the vote on the request that the chancellor sent on December 11, less than a third of deputies voted in support of Scholz. On December 27, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier announced the dissolution of the Bundestag. New government elections are scheduled for February 23, 2025. The leadership of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) again unanimously nominated Scholz, but there are opinions that the chances of the chancellor to lead the government again are not very high.
