Ukraine reported receiving the first 100m cu.m. of LNG from the USA

Ukraine has received its first shipment of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States, Ukrainian energy holding company DTEK said on December 27.
"A shipment of approximately 100 million cubic meters of gas, or 1 terawatt-hour of energy, aboard the [vessel] Gaslog Savannah arrived at the Revitus LNG terminal [in Greece] on Friday morning," the company said in a statement.
The holding company recalled that the delivery took place a few days before the termination of the agreement on the transit of Russian gas to Europe through Ukrainian territory.
DTEK is Ukraine's largest private energy company, Gazeta.ru noted.
On the eve, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that the Russian side was ready to supply gas through Ukraine under a contract with any counterparty, but this is impossible now amid a lawsuit from Kiev. He also pointed out that it was impossible to conclude a new transit contract a few days before the New Year. European markets have reacted by raising natural gas prices.
On December 31, the transit contract for pumping gas from Russia through Ukraine expires. The Russian leadership has repeatedly pointed out that the country did not refuse transit supplies to Europe, but to prolong them, European countries have to negotiate with Kiev.
