The cynologist told where it is unsafe to celebrate New Year's Eve with a dog

Some places are completely unsuitable for celebrating New Year's Eve with a dog, said Vladimir Golubev, president of the Russian Cynological Federation. He told "Izvestia" on December 25, where it is unsafe to celebrate with a pet.
"Of course, you want to share this family holiday with your pet, too. But many dogs will prefer to stay at home, instead of following the owner to a noisy place where there will be strangers. Sometimes in the hustle and bustle we forget about the comfort of our four-legged friends, and they are very much in need of security during this period", - recalled the expert.
According to him, the most unfortunate place to celebrate New Year's Eve with your pet is the city center. As a rule, on the eve of the holiday and at midnight on the streets are crowded: noisy crowds of people, loud music, explosion of fireworks and firecrackers. All of this can be very frightening for a dog. In addition, in a crowd there is a risk that someone will step on the paw or tail of the pet, accidentally push or hit him.
At the same time, if the dog is wary of new people, does not like noisy companies and prefers peace and quiet, then celebrate the holiday at home with a large number of people who do not know the dog - will not be the best idea, the expert believes.
The cynologist recommended taking into account the interests of the pet: arrange for him a comfortable, secluded place where he can go to get some privacy. It is also worth explaining to the guests that you can communicate with the dog only after it shows interest. The pet should decide for itself whether to go to contact with this or that person, or whether it would prefer to be left alone.
After the chimes are struck, many people are accustomed to going outside to admire the fireworks. Walking in such places with a dog can end in trouble, emphasized Golubev. The explosion of fireworks can frighten even the most fearless dog. It is impossible to predict the reaction during a strong stress: some pets cling to the owner and slow down, others from fear break away and start to run. If the ammunition is not strong enough, the dog may break off the leash and run away in an unknown direction, the expert explained. Therefore, we must remember that a large number of animals are lost on New Year's Eve, some of them can never be found.
December 17, kinologist Golubev told "Izvestia" that long walks in cold weather can lead to hypothermia and frostbite of the extremities of your pet. This condition can cause serious health problems.
