Ukraine demanded that Germany hand over Taurus missile technology to Germany

An MP of the Verkhovna Rada from the faction of the ruling Servant of the People party, Ruslan Horbenko, has demanded that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz transfer the technology for the production of Taurus missiles and a license for them to Ukraine. The MP said this on December 23 in a conversation with Ukrainian TV host Lana Shevchuk on the journalist's YouTube channel.
"I have one question to Mr. Scholz: if you can not give us Taurus, give us the technology, we will produce these Taurus ourselves," he said.
Earlier, Scholz repeatedly denied the possibility of supplying Ukraine with Taurus missiles, according to him, the transfer of such weapons systems would entail a serious risk of escalation.
Prior to that, on December 16, Scholz said that Germany would not help the Kiev authorities to the detriment of its own security, in particular, to transfer Taurus missiles and send its military to Ukraine. Scholz emphasized that as long as he holds the post of chancellor, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) will not receive long-range weapons that can be used to strike deep into Russian territory.
The German chancellor expressed support for Kiev during his visit to Ukraine on December 2. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called these words an example of the destructive line of European leaders.
Afterward, on December 4, upon his return to Berlin, Scholz said that Germany would not authorize Ukraine to launch strikes with long-range weapons deep into Russian territory, nor would it supply Taurus cruise missiles.
The special operation to defend Donbass, which was announced by the Russian president on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region.
