This was stated to "Izvestia" by the head of the Commission on international affairs of the Slovak Parliament from the party Smer Marian Carey.

"The situation is very difficult because from January 1 next year Ukraine will stop transit of gas and oil," Marian Carey, head of the foreign affairs Commission of the Slovak Parliament from the ruling Smer party, told "Izvestia".

He emphasized that he would advocate for Slovakia to respond if gas transit is cut off.

"It is known that we help Ukraine as far as humanitarian aid is concerned. We give it electricity. Then it will be necessary to stop it from our side. Electricity for Ukraine goes through Slovakia. If they do not want us to be able to buy gas and oil from Russia, I do not see the possibility that we can continue to help Ukrainians," he explained.

On December 22, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo.
