At the site of the collision of two trains in the Murmansk region, restoration work continues. This was reported in the press service of Russian Railways on December 19.
"The damaged section of track is being cleared for laying a new rail-tie grid and restoration of the contact network," - reported in the Telegram-channel.
At the scene of the accident 218 people are working, four bulldozers and four cranes are involved, as well as four recovery trains from stations Murmansk, Kandalaksha, Kem and Petrozavodsk.
The day before, when arriving at the station Knyazhaya in the Murmansk region, a passenger train traveling on the route Murmansk - St. Petersburg, collided with a freight train, causing three cars of the passenger train and several freight cars to derail. At the time of the accident in the passenger train were 326 people.
Later it was reported that the number of injured as a result of the collision of trains rose to 31. Governor of the Murmansk region Andrei Chibis also reported that two people were killed in the accident.
After the collision of the trains, the transport department of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia opened a criminal case under Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of safety rules of movement and operation of railway transport").
"Izvestia" published footage from the passenger train. They show how people are trying to pass from one carriage to another, but because of the deformation of the doors do not open. At the same time, some passengers can not get to their belongings, as they remained in the damaged parts of the train.
