As early as in the first quarter of 2025, the Central Bank may start lowering the interest rate, Anatoly Aksakov, head of the State Duma Committee on Financial Markets, estimated in an interview with Izvestia. According to him, this will begin to happen after inflation slows down.

"Now everything suggests that the Bank of Russia has taken control of the situation, it gives a signal to the market that despite the consequences of raising the key rate, the Central Bank will pursue a tight credit policy," the deputy said.

According to him, inflation will soon begin to decline. This is due to the fact that after the problems with imported goods, many enterprises needed time to reconfigure their processes and set up new production. Now they are already gradually starting up, and this will lead to market saturation. Businesses have also had time to better establish supplies of goods from abroad, which we ourselves do not produce in the necessary quantity.

"According to my estimates, in the first half of 2025, the Central Bank may lower the rate to 17%," Aksakov said.
