- Political analyst points to the West's willingness to pay with the lives of Ukrainians for damage to Russia

Western countries are ready to continue financial support for Ukraine despite its internal problems because they are satisfied with paying for the conflict against Russia with money and lives of Ukrainians. This was pointed out on 17 December by Pavel Feldman, a candidate of political science and associate professor at the Academy of Labor and Social Relations.
The day before, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that the Federal Republic of Germany would not help the Kiev authorities to the detriment of its own security, in particular, by transferring Taurus missiles and sending its military to Ukraine. The politician noted that Berlin will adhere to such a policy as long as he holds the post of Chancellor.
"Scholz's trademark caution does not cancel the fact that under his leadership Germany has become the largest supplier of lethal weapons for Ukraine in Europe. It is second only to the United States in terms of deliveries. <...> The leadership of Germany and other unfriendly countries are quite satisfied with the situation when Kiev pays with its human resources for the aggressive anti-Russian policy of the collective West," Feldman commented.
According to him, high-ranking German officials and military officers consider a direct military clash between NATO and Russia almost inevitable. Thus, the Scandinavian countries, the Baltic States and Poland are actively preparing for such a scenario. The EU needs Ukraine as the tip of the spear against Moscow, the interlocutor emphasized.
The political analyst also added that despite the statements of some Western politicians about the reduction of aid to Ukraine, there is no reason to believe that this will happen. However, military aid will be provided in strictly dosed forms and volumes so as not to provoke Russia to strike at Western decision-making centers, he believes.
"But the Americans under Donald Trump can get out of the game by proclaiming the Ukrainian conflict a problem of the Europeans. The US President-elect went to the elections under the slogan "not a dime to the puppet state of the Democrat Party", and now he can't defiantly abandon his promises," the expert admitted.
He noted that citizens of Western countries are satisfied with the current situation. Feldman concluded that only a direct threat to expand the Ukrainian conflict to neighboring Western countries can fundamentally change the internal political balance in the EU.
The day before, Irish journalist Chay Bose also said that NATO and the EU are trying to maintain their weakening positions in Ukraine only for their own benefit and not for the sake of "freedom and democracy." According to him, the Western countries are only interested in mineral resources and for this reason they are ready to depopulate, make Ukraine dependent and bankrupt.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said in November that Ukraine will be in Western bondage for decades and will pay for its debts with its people, subsoil and territories.
Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine amid Russia's special operation to protect Donbas, which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
