Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev on December 17 called the terrorist attack that killed Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, head of the radiation, chemical and biological defense troops of the Russian Armed Forces (AF), an agony of the Bandera regime.

"This terrorist attack is the agony of the Bandera regime. Out of its last strength it is trying to justify its worthless existence before its Western masters, to prolong the war and death, to justify itself for the catastrophic situation on the front," TASS quoted Medvedev as saying.

According to the politician, Kiev is thus trying to strike cowardly blows against the backdrop of its future defeat.

Medvedev also added that Kirillov was a professional and responsible military man, very dedicated to his duty.

The deaths of Igor Kirillov and his aide became known earlier in the day. According to the version of the investigation, the military died as a result of detonation of an explosive device planted in a scooter, standing near the entrance. The explosion occurred near a seven-story apartment building on Ryazansky Avenue in Moscow. A criminal case of murder and terrorist act was opened over the incident.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted that Igor Kirillov had been systematically exposing Western crimes for many years, working fearlessly and never hiding behind the backs of others. He fought for the Motherland and for the truth, the diplomat concluded.

Vice-speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev called the incident a shock and irreplaceable loss. He expressed condolences to the families of the victims and said that the killers would be punished beyond any doubt and without mercy.
