Emergency Situations Ministry warned Muscovites about the coming snowstorm in the capital

Blizzard, ice and wind strengthening up to 13-18 m/s are expected in Moscow with the onset of evening. Emergency warning on December 16 issued by the main department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the capital, noting that the bad weather will last until Tuesday, December 17.

"In the period from 21:00 on December 16 to 10:00 on December 17, in places in Moscow will remain snow, wet snow, in some places blizzard, deposition of wet snow. In some areas, ice, icy roads, snow drifts," - said the press service of the agency.

Muscovites were urged to be more attentive and careful on the street. For safety reasons, drivers are advised to move at reduced speeds, avoid sharp maneuvers and increase the distance from the cars ahead.

Earlier, on December 16, leading specialist of the information agency "Meteonovosti" Tatyana Pozdnyakova told "Izvestia" that the weather in Moscow this week will be quite unstable, the atmospheric pressure will change significantly. On December 16 and 17, the temperature will approach zero, precipitation is expected. On Monday, snow and snowstorms are expected, later light rains, possible wet snow together with drizzle, which may cause the formation of icicles. In some places ice is possible. Wind speed may reach 12-15 m/s, and by evening a snowstorm is not excluded.

Before that, on December 3, the scientific head of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand said that winter on the territory of the Russian Federation promises to be variable and heterogeneous. The forecaster noted that in Siberia, especially in the northern part, the winter weather will be 5-10 degrees above normal.
